day 39 - be mine

Last night, I put all the Valentine cards together so that first thing this morning Alyssa could sign them. Than we could get them in the mail in time to arrive at their Grandparents and cousins for the big day!
Some of these cards will be used for their friends at daycare too. I love how they turned out!

day 103 - invites

After work, I ran a few more errands, which included going to Walmart! I can't remember the last time I was in Walmart by myself!! It was GREAT!!!! It's amazing how much more productive I am without the girls in tow! It also meant I could pick up a few things for them! Because Easter is just around the corner!

I also picked up a few things to assist in making Alyssa's birthday invitations. Her birthday isn't for another month, but I wanted to get the invites done so she could give them to her little friends. This will be her first birthday party with just her friends. I really hope it turns out great! I know I have a lot of fun things planned :) So excited!!

I had the main part of the invite printed at Walmart. I created it a few weeks ago and have been waiting to print it. One night I got inspired and this is what I came up with.

I LOVE the fontsI used. I wanted something script and swirly, like Rupenzel's hair.  I just needed a few things to dress up the finished invite. I am very happy with how they turned out! So is Alyssa!! She thinks her Mommy is the most creative person ever!!! I try :)

day 45 - happy valentine's day

Happy Valentine's Day!

We didn't go on a romantic date or anything of the sort! We did however exchange cards. Jason surprised me with a gift certificate to get a pedicure though! I wasn't expecting that! We typically don't buy gifts for Valentine's Day. He also gave me flowers yesterday!

My picture today is of the cookies I made yesterday for the girls to take to the sitters today. I guess they were a big hit, as they were all eaten. And the little card is something I made for Alyssa. She wanted me to make her one, since I was making ones for her and Cayla to give to all the girls they get babysat with. Any excuse for me to pull out my stamps and create something cute, I am all for it!

I was also surprised by having the Valentine cards I made using the girls photos, spotlighted on the Creating Keepsakes blog today! Was not expecting that at all! It's a huge honour! Thanks!

day 38 - be my valentine

Tonight, before dinner, Alyssa and I assembled the girl's Valentine cards. I used the photos that I took on Sunday and arranged them in this ever so cute Clothesline graphic by Kitschy Digital at JessicaSprague.com

I recoloured the clothespins and added a few hanging hearts from Echo Park's "Dashes through the snow" kit, also available at JS.com I then printed the image as a 4x6 photo at Walmart. Then comes the really easy part. I mounted the card on red cardstock and then on a blank, white card. To dress it up a bit, I tied a red ribbon at the top. Super easy!

Alyssa than wrote her name and Cayla's inside. I put them in the mailbox tonight. They'll be delivered to their grandparents and cousins, just in time for Valentine's day!

a crafty day

Today turned out to be a very crafty day for me. I completed a scrapbook layout and 3 cards!! I had a birthday card to make; so I did that this afternoon while Alyssa took a nap. Than tonight I made a couple Christmas cards. I think I'll be sending out all different designs this year. Originally, I was going to design one card to send out, but I am having so much fun designing all different ones. To get some great inspiration on card designs, check out http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ If you're a stamper like me and use Stampin' Up! products, than this is the website for you. It lists all the stamp sets alphabetically, so all you have to do is search for the stamp set you have and you'll be presented with hundreds of ideas using that particular set! It's great!!

I made this card tonight using some of the supplies I got in the mail from Stampin' Up! today. I was so excited because it included the circle scalloped punch! I've had my eye on it ever since the new catalogue came out this past summer. It's such a cute little punch! Also included in the shipment was the stamp set "Wishing You Cheer"...it's also very cute!

Stamps: Wishing You Cheer and Warmest Regards
Cardstock: Purely Pomegranate, Old Olive and Whisper White.
Pattern paper: unknown
Ink: Whisper White craft ink and Basic Black classic ink
Accessories: Whisper White grosgrain ribbon, circle scallop punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, corner rounder punch (to create scallop edge at bottom, and white signo gel pen.
Tip: I coloured in the snowman using a blender pen and ink squeezed onto the lid of the ink pad. To do this: While the ink pad is closed squeeze the lid and ink pad together; just enough to leave a residue of ink on the lid. Than take your blender pen and get some ink on the tip, than start to colour your image. It's really quite easy to do!

I am just waiting for the craft ink on my other card to dry. Once I put it all together I'll take a picture and post on my Sheri Mae Designs blog tomorrow. While you're there check out all the great promotions from Stampin' Up! this month.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day Jason!!

This was Jason's second Father's Day. We spent the day at home trying to relax. But with a one year old not much relaxing took place :) She was on the go from morning until we put her to bed a few minutes ago! She did actually nap for an hour this afternoon, but it should have been longer! Oh well. She still had lots of fun playing with her Daddy.

I made him cards from us. This is the card I made from Alyssa to him. I used the "Wild About You" stamp set. Then I made him another page for his Father's Day scrapbook. Last year I started him an album (click here to see it). So this year I added a page to it. I had a lot of fun creating this one, as I got a chance to look back at the past year and find photos of the two of them from each month. It wasn't hard to do either, as I take lots of them together.

Here's the layout. The title is "a year of being Daddy".

Here are a few more pictures of them from today. I tried to get a nice one of them together, but Alyssa was either crying or trying to steal the camera! So these are the best I could do. Which are still great, as it's them in the moment, having fun!

Oh yeah, her shirt says "My heart Belongs to Daddy". I got it at Old Navy about a month ago...so cute!

new product from Stampin' Up!

Yesterday I received my order of "new" Stampin' Up! product!!! I have been waiting anxiously for this order because it contained new stamps, paper and ink from the upcoming Fall-Winter 2007 Collection Catalogue due out on July 1st.

I got my order at 4:00 yesterday afternoon. I was quick to start getting my stamps assembled so that I could start stamping!!

I started late last night on a card, but I was too tired to stay up to finish, so I finished it first thing this morning while Alyssa took a nap. I used the new "Pick A Petal" stamp set to make a lady bug! There are so many possibilities with this stamp set.

Stamps: Pick A Petal and Hugs & Wishes
Cardstock: Whisper White, Purely Pomegranate and Soft Sky
Ink: Purely Pomegranate and Basic Black
Other: White grosgrain ribbon, 1 1/4 circle punch, Small Oval Punch, small corner rounder, white signo gel pen, black Stampin' Write journaler and mat pat for paper piercing

This is not my original idea, I got it from a fellow stamper on http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/

If you like this card and want to make it yourself, then you'll want to sign up for my upcoming card class in July. This will be 1 of 5 cards that we'll be making. For more details please send me an email. You'll also want to check out my Sheri Mae Designs blog in the coming days for more card samples.

Thanks for looking!

1st birthday creations

I thought I would share a few of the things I created for Alyssa's 1st birthday.

Starting with the invites. I purposely used an elephant on them because of Alyssa's pink elephant Li'l Rosebud.

Stamps: Wild About You (elephant & flower) Fresh Fillers (background flowers), and Everyday Flexible Phrases ("birthday party" words)
Cardstock: Cool Caribbean, Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Basic Black
Other: Brown grosgrain ribbon, mat pat for paper piercing, white signo gel pen and Marvy circle and scallop punches

This is the birthday card I made for Alyssa from us. I used a lot of the same supplies that I used for her invitation.

I made a "Happy 1st Birthday" banner. I had a lot of fun making this and it didn't take long to make.

I used the elephant from the "Wild About You" stamp set. I put an elephant on each end of the banner. I then used the Marvy circle and scallop punch to punch out the Pretty in Pink and Cool Caribbean cardstock. For the words I used the Chatterbox Chipboard Letters. I attached the circles to a string using brads by curling the prongs around the string.

I also made a mini album highlighting Alyssa's first year. To create the album I used two 12x12 sheets of basic black cardstock. I cut them in half and then scored them in the middle. This gave me a 6x6 album with eight pages. I then rounded the corners using the small corner rounder from Stampin' Up! I punched holes in the spine and attached the pages together using ribbon.

Each page included a photo of Alyssa from the month's photo shoot along with her milestones from that month. Except for her twelfth month, as I hadn't taken the picture yet.

Stamps: Wild About You, Typeset Lower Alphabet, Fresh Fillers Cardstock: Basic Black, Bazzil pink cardstock
Ink: Whisper White craft ink
Other:
Pink grosgrain ribbon, Black grosgrain ribbon, other ribbon, mat pat for paper piercing, white signo gel pen, 1 1/4 circle punch and Marvy circle and scallop punches

weekend recap

Wow, where did the weekend go? And the month of April? I can't believe tomorrow is May already! The weekend flew by as it always does.

On Saturday, Jason's parents came to visit. Alyssa was in the mood to entertain and hammed it up for them. The more they laughed, the more she hammed it up. She has this face she makes when people laugh at her...it's hard to describe, that's why I tried my best to capture it...but it's better to experience in person. She puts her head back, crinkles up her nose and does this fake like smile that shows her teeth. Most times she does a little fake laugh along with it, but not on Saturday. Either way, her Grandparents got a kick out of her! With all the excitement she didn't have her nap at the regular time, so she was very tired when they left.

While Alyssa napped I stamped! Because my mother-in-law brought over a few of her stamp sets for me to borrow! Thanks again Pearl!!! I say a "few" but it's more like 14 of them! And that's not all of them!! She has been stamping for awhile and has built up quite the collection...and is still building it! So there will never be a shortage of stamps between the two of us! I now have 14 stamp sets of my own! So I am catching up to her ;-) Here are a few of the ones I created. For credits, see my gallery. I've also posted a few on my Sheri Mae Designs blog. By the way, there will be a new promotion for the month of May from Stampin' Up!. To learn all about it, you'll want to sign up for my monthly newsletter (if you haven't already). To receive the May newsletter, visit my Sheri Mae Designs blog and sign up before tomorrow!

Then yesterday we ventured out to get a few things...but it was a zoo over at Canadian Tire and the other stores near us! We got what we needed and headed home to enjoy the nice weather. It's so nice to be able to get out for nightly walks again. Now our nightly walk includes walking over to the park and giving Alyssa a swing ride! She just loves it and is all giggles!

While I type this Alyssa is playing with the speaker on the floor beside the desk and she keeps turning it off! Yet, she likes the music (it's her Fisher Price cd), but she likes turning the button off more! I guess that's my cue to go!
