Weekly Digi Challenge @ 2Peas

This week I am hosting the weekly digi challenge at Two Peas in a Bucket. The challenge is to be inspired by a greeting card!! Such a fun theme and an easy one for me as I keep almost all my greeting cards!! I love giving and receiving cards!! I was doing so well at making my own cards, but as of late I have to say I haven't done such a good job of that! Need to get back doing that...although right now I can't as all my supplies are packed up for our move!

Here's the card I used as inspiration for my layout. It was a shower card from one of the many baby showers I had when pregnant with Alyssa.

And this is the layout I came up with...."What time is it?" Makes me think of the game we played as kids..."What time is it Mr. Wolfe?" LOL

{What time is it?}

In the early days of Cayla's young life I took a lot of pictures. Who am I kidding, I still take a lot :) But like so many pictures they are left sitting in a folder and never really get looked at again, so I thought, why not combine a bunch of photos of her doing random things on one layout! I am really loving these random layouts, such an easy way to combine so many great photos! This layout also reminds me of the round the clock care a baby needs in those early days and even now at 9 months old :) Gosh, she sure has grown up a lot!!

If you'd like to participate in this challenge, click on the layout to get more details. I can't wait to see what you create!

Then join me next Tuesday, Sept 29th at 10PM EST for an online chat on the Digital Scrapbooking message board.

Layout is copyright of Two Peas in a Bucket.

Digi Challenge {Recolouring}: 1-2-3 Birthdays

The weekly digital challenge at 2Peas is all about recolouring! I rarely if ever recolour papers or elements, so it was a nice reminder that I can do this. It's especially nice to do when you have a favourite paper but it's not the right colour for the photos you're working with.

Here's the layout I completed for the challenge. Oh how Alyssa has grown over the past three years, but a few things remain the same....she still prefers the icing over the cake, she doesn't like when people sing happy birthday (only Mommy & Daddy can) and she is still somewhat scared of candles.

Everything is from Two Peas in a Bucket:
Kate Teague's Cuppycake ver. 2
Crystal Wilkerson's Birthday Doodles Brush Pack
Crystal Wilkerson's The 365 Challenge {April} kit

In my layout, the background paper was originally brown and I recoloured it pink. Actually, I recoloured a few papers to be pink or a darker shade of pink. I also did purple too!

If you're a little uncertain about how to recolour your papers, here's what I do. I use Photoshop Elements 7.

  1. Open the paper/element you wish to recolour.
  2. On your keyboard press Ctrl + U to bring up the Hue/Saturation dialog box.
  3. Slide the Hue, Saturation and Lightness sliders to get the desired colour/effect you want. I always start with Hue and work my way down.
  4. Once you're done, click OK.

If anyone knows of another way to do this, please let me know! This is just how I do it. Now that I have regained this new knowledge I'll be sure to recolour a lot more papers in the future!
