day 260 - fall fair

It's that time of year for fall festivities. This weekend is always the fall fair in my hometown. It's nothing big or even that fabulous, but it's fun for the girls. I remember going to the fair every year as a kid, so it's something I want to share with my girls, since there isn't a fall fair where we live.

It was the perfect day for it too!

Every year they have the same rides and pretty much the same games, but that's actually a good thing, because now Alyssa remembers everything from the previous year and looks forward to doing things again. Like riding on the Gator ride. She was the only one on it and the guy must have let her go around at least 10 times!!! I was beginning to wonder if he was ever going to stop it! LOL Alyssa didn't care, she loved it!!
Cayla wondered the same thing as she looked on. She wanted to go on, but she wanted one of us to go with her, but we couldn't, as we were too big!! So she just watched her big sister. Maybe next year she'll want to do it by herself or with her sister.
The one ride we could all go on was the ferris wheel!

It was a blast experiencing it with Alyssa. She was with me, while Cayla was with Jason. This is a view from the top.
Alyssa LOVED it!!!! She was practically hanging over the edge trying to see Jason and Cayla. She was freaking me out a bit and I asked her to stay still. LOL No fear at all, which is a good thing!
Finally we spotted Daddy and Cayla :)

They got off before us, so I snapped a picture of them waving at us from the ground.
Next it was off to play the one and only game where you're guaranteed to win...fishing!!
Both girls got a puppy. Alyssa's was pink and Cayla's was purple. Cayla was very happy about her prize!
Then we went to see the animals.
The baby chick was a highlight for sure, as they got to pet it. Mommy got to hold it :)

Leave it to my girls to sit down and colour. There were no other kids colouring, except mine! Cayla was quick, where as Alyssa could've sat there all afternoon to colour.
Even the Queen of the Fair joined Alyssa. It was cute to watch her chatting away to Alyssa and having Alyssa give such quiet, one word responses :)
Cayla was busy visiting with the cows.

Before we left, the girls went on one last ride, together!! I can see these two doing bumper cars one day!! They sure loved riding around in a circle!

Fun times for sure!
It wouldn't be a visit to the fair without cotton candy!!!
They had to say good bye to Oprah before leaving. She was the first one they talked to when they arrived at the fair. This isn't the famous Oprah, you and I know, it's a cute, very informative puppet who rides a tractor and talks!!
A girl operates her from a distance so the kids can't see her, but she can hear them and respond to their questions, or in my girls case, their silence!! LOL
As her card says, she's a Farm Animal Care Specialist.
After fun at the fair, we headed to Grandma & Pa's house for the afternoon. That's where I snapped these ever so cute photos of my Cayla Bear :) Love the little curls she gets in her hair.

She was enjoying colouring with Grandma. We had a nice visit. It was a fun, fall day :)

day 160 - fun fair

What an amazingly fun night tonight!! Have I said lately how much I LOVE living in a small town!! It's not that small, but small enough that Alyssa's school is able to hold such events! Seriously love it!! And to think we actual debated on going! Wow, we would've missed out, big time!!

Around 5:30 we ventured over to Alyssa's school for what they call "Fun Fair". It's completely organized and run by parent volunteers. It's a fun night for the family to come out with the kids to enjoy food, games, prizes and so much more! Everything was done by tickets and each ticket was under a buck to buy! How can you say no to that! Plus it's to help raise money for Alyssa's school, so that was reason enough for us!

First up was some face painting! Only Alyssa wanted it done though. She only had it on for a couple hours, but it was totally worth it to just see her big smile :)
While Alyssa was getting her face painted, Jason was getting us some burgers and hot dogs. Yummy!
Than it was off to bounce off the food! Only Alyssa wanted to bounce though. Cayla loved the idea, but when I tried to put her inside, she wanted nothing to do with it! She missed out again!

When Alyssa got out, she was still bouncing and pointing at all the stuff she wanted to do next! She was so super excited to be there!!
Up next was the obstacle course.

Again, it was just Alyssa. She was super excited about doing it until she got to the first obstacle and she couldn't climb over it!! Luckily, a little neighbour boy was behind us in line. He is in Grade 4. I asked him if he could give Alyssa a boost over and he did. He is such a nice boy. Alyssa knows him from school too, because the Grade 4 class often comes to help the kindergartners. It would've been game over it he didn't help, because she was in tears because she couldn't get over. Once she got over that obstacle she was off and finished with a big smile!

While Alyssa did that, Jason took Cayla over to the playground. This was more Cayla's speed :)
Alyssa got some pink hair by pulling a stick! What an easy game. Pull a stick and win a prize.
It was fun just to watch the girls running around.
We kept hearing sirens. When we went to check it out, we saw that they were giving rides on an old fire truck. Of course the girls wanted to do that! Or at least we thought Cayla did!
But by the sad look on her face you wouldn't know that she really had fun. I think she was just a tad scared, since she's not use to driving around in a vehicle and not being seat belted in!! As for me, this was a blast from the past!! Riding around in the back of a pick up truck was just something we did when we were kids!

Alyssa was the exact opposite! She had a smile from ear to ear! She loved it!!! And I just love her new toothless smile :)

Finally, we got a big smile out of Cayla. All we had to do was hand her a stick with fluffy pink cotton candy on the end of it!!
Alyssa was very happy to finally get some cotton candy! I think the first thing she asked for when we got there was to have some :) She wasted no time eating hers!
Cayla took her time licking hers :)

The sun was starting to set and we were getting ready to go home, but the girls wanted to play one more game.
They picked mini putt. They both played, with the help from Daddy and both won prizes!
They named this event perfectly, as it truly was "fun". So glad we decided to go and not spend another night just sitting at home!!
